Pastor

I am happy to be the pastor of our parishes in the St. Francis of Assisi Pastorate! I've been a priest since 2006, and have served in various ministries throughout the diocese including eleven years doing college campus ministry at a Newman Center.

My focus as your pastor is to help you encounter our Lord Jesus Christ through prayer, the Sacraments, and the teachings of His Church. I am confident that as you all grow in holiness, our parishes will blossom in the fruits of the Holy Spirit for us and for all.

Parochial Vicar

I was born placed for adoption as an infant in the Twin Cities. I have an older sister and brother (Kim and Mike) who are also adopted and live in the Twin Cities still. I entered seminary for the Diocese of Sioux Falls in 1994 and I was ordained a priest in the Great Jubilee year of 2000.

Over the last 26 years I have served as a pastor, college chaplain, seminary formator and Rector in Sioux Falls, Brookings and White, Denver, Beresford, Centerville, Vermillion, Wakonda and Yankton. I also serve as the Executive Director of Broom Tree Retreat Center west of Irene and as a judge on the Diocese of Sioux Falls Tribunal.

I have a wide range of different interests, but above all, I love to get to know people in the parish and community. My passion is to help each person grow in their personal relationship with God and with His Church. I love being a priest and am very grateful to be serving in the parishes of our Pastorate.

Parochial Vicar

I was ordained a priest on the 27th of May 2022. Prior to this, I earned a degree in Philosophy at

the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN and a degree in Sacred Theology from the

Pontifical University of St. Thomas in Rome.

I was first assigned to Holy Spirit Parish in Sioux

Falls and St. Dominic Parish in Canton. In my free time, I enjoy a few different hobbies such as

reading and writing which includes classical and modern fiction, historical studies, philosophy,

and theology. I also participate in a few competitive activities like basketball, volleyball, and CrossFit.

Deacon

I was ordained to the permanent diaconate on May 15, 2021 by Bishop Donald Degrood. Prior to this, I’ve been assigned to St. Michael Parish and St. Joseph Cathedral. I regularly serve at St. Francis House, and am involved with Ecclesia Domestica. I greatly look forward to assisting our pastor and parochial vicars in their spiritual care of the holy people of the St. Francis of Assisi Pastorate.

 My wife is Lori (married June 4, 1988). I have three daughters, Leigh (Sioux Falls), Maria (Dayton, OH) and Erin (Sioux Falls), and two grandsons, Jude and Simon. I grew up in Aberdeen, as one of eight children. I received degrees in Computer Science & Computer Engineering from Iowa State University. I like hunting, kick boxing, gardening and reading on the latest trends in technology (AI, quantum computing) as well as a wide variety of spiritual reading.

Deacon

I was ordained to the permanent diaconate on August 9, 2009 for the Diocese of Superior, Wisconsin. Prior to my ordination I served seven years as an officer navigator in the United States Air Force and 22 years as a clinical laboratory director. My wife, Jane, and I moved to Sioux Falls in 2016.

I was incardinated in the Diocese of Sioux Falls on August 7, 2019. I was assigned to Holy Spirit parish and served as permanent deacon and on staff as the Director of Stewardship. In September of 2022, I was assigned to St. Nicholas Parish.
